Corbanian Purgers Chapter

Like most players, I've collected space marines. I can't even claim that I did it because I was new to 40K as they were my second army. In truth, I collected them as an anti tyranid force, hence all the Deathwatch shoulder pads and bolters.

Anyway, here's The Emperors Purgers or more commonly known as the Corbanian Purgers. First off, we have the commander and his partner in crime .....

I also added a Damocles command vehicle from IA books as it came with a host of options ...

In the elite section, we have two squads of terminators and two dreadnoughts and a veteran squad ....

The troops section was made up of five 8 man squads, a scout squad thrown in as I really liked the models along with a rhino and a razorback to give me some transport options ...

Next up we have the fast attack options comprising of two five man squads and two land speeders ....

For the heavy support, I've got a good mix of troops and vehicles. There's two devastator squads, a vindicator, whirlwind and a pair of predators ....

The lasts predator was a bit of a home rules version as it was a Baal predator packing twin linked multimelta's, I called it a Purger pattern predator ....

One of the reasons I got a Damocles command vehicle was that it allowed you to take an Imperial Navy flyer as a heavy support choice, so I added a Vulture gunship for good measure ....

There you have it, my Marines, more guard goodness coming soon.

Looking very good! Although that poor Vindicator looks so naked without his dozerblade hehe.

Cheers

Awesome work!!! How many points does all that roughly add up to? Does the Vulture ever see any action with your IG as a count as Vendetta?

wonderful to see a full army in all it's glory. How did you make the 25 mm bases, having the texture go all around?

I very much agree with the previous commentators. That is a nice looking army all painted up really well and consistent. I really like the bases and his they don't have those typical sides. And just as Mike I want to know how you made them:)

I do hope your army gets to see some action, it deserves to be taken out and played!

I'm amazed that you have another army secretly painted and hidden away. Your devotion to the hobby is unparalleled!

What isn't surprising is their bases look great. Granted it's a fairly simple theme, but it does an amazing job of tying everything together. Great stuff there.

This is also the first time I've seen a Vulture in a long while, and I'm wondering how hard it would be to convert up one from a Valk model. Any chance you have a secret project like that in the works?

Great looking army! It looks like a colid company of Marines. I'm of the opinion that you need to update them for the new codex out there! 8 man squads? Heresy!

Make them 10!

Wow - lovely! An entire army, from nowhere, in one post!

I like the bases and how clean and simple the painting is.

As for the vulture? It's now top of my list for when I finish the current lot. But with punisher cannon.

Mmmm...

I have a theory that Corbane actually slows down time using his warp-spawned gifts, and paints entire armies in one sitting....

Really nice looking army. Simple scheme which is always good, cohesive and tidy. We're green marines sir!

Whoa, whoa, wow!
Where have these been hiding?

Great looking army. Well themed and balanced. I actually don't have a SM army, but work like this makes me want to.

Even though you playing marines seems a little "dirty" to me :P , still a nice force, nice simple and crisp color scheme...the big E will be proud!

Ah, memories, love this army, tasty too, at least my shinny black and white nids liked eating them, Tau didnt fare so well though.

@Zombieburger - Cheers mate, I'm not sure why I never added it to be honest, lost in the mists of time.

@HotPanda - It's around the 2500 points mark mate although that might have changed since the last codex. The vulture hasn't seen any action with the guard yet, but I'm thinking of a fresh paint job and adding a gatling cannon like the A10.

@Capitola Family - Cheers mate, the bases are just standard GW bases with gravel pva'd on. I just left the pva in a pool to dry out and become more tacky before I gravelled the bases so it stuck to the side better.

@Flekkzo - Thanks mate, the shame is that it hasn't seen any action in years and probably won't. I'm saving it for little man when he gets old enough.

@W39,999 - Cheers mate, it's amazing the stuff I find in the hobby cupboard - lol. I'm not sure on converting a vulture up, I can't think how you'd do the turbine behind the cockpit but I'd love to see it if you do.

@Cawshis Clay - Thanks mate, I've got way too much to do with my guard to go back and update the marines. They'll just have to keep hiding from the Inquisitor! One day maybe, but not anytime soon.

@Admiral Drax - Thanks matey, must admit, I'm liking the sound of the punisher cannon. It's just a shame that's all it can take as I'd like to convert the nose of this one to a 40k A10 but it'd leave the wings bare.

@Soundwave - Thanks matey, if only I could control time, so much to do, so little time.

@the other Kevin - Cheers mate, they've been hiding in the hobby cupboard, it's a bit like a fold in space, thing go in and then get forgotten about. On one for you, don't do it mate, I was young and inexperienced .... lol

@CanolliCrusader - Looking back, it feels a bit dirty but playing guard cleanses my soul.

@Tolcrothlogan - It's ironic that as an anti-nid force, they got eaten by your nids but I do have fond memories of popping devilfishs - lol

@litttleman You are a lucky kid indeed. Just make sure your dad doesn't try to pull any leafblower shenanigans on you:)

Very nice work Colonel! One rarely sees the folly textured base, and I think it really adds something to the models. Don't feel bad about the marines - I recently came down with a bad case of Crimson Fists, but it passed. :)
