A long time coming ....

I suppose with hindsight, I really should have typed this blog earlier. Instead, I've let time drift on until tonight. I don't know why tonight, but for some reason I decided now was the time. I didn't want to slowly slip into the night but actually say a 'see ya later guys'.

You see, I've kinda fallen out of love with 40k. There's actually a whole host of reasons why, ranging from the sheer amount of resources in time, money and space it takes to play 40k, to how the game has changed from the 40k I fell in love with all those years ago, to the ever increasing commercialisation of the game. I don't want to sound like I'm bitching as I'm not, 40k has given me years of great fun and it's something that I'm very grateful for.

I'd also like to thank all of you for supporting me through the years as I've explored the 40k hobby, I've really felt like I've belonged to a community and that's something that I'm also very grateful for. So, thanks guys, I really mean it, you've be great. I hope that you all continue to enjoy the hobby as much as I have and keep blogging guys, there's many more like me who just love seeing what you do with the world of 40k.

Finally, I should say, I'm not leaving the hobby, I'm just changing my focus to something that isn't so demanding. I'm not going to say that I'll never come back to 40k, as little man grows up, who knows if the Corbanian 1st will once again grace the battlefield under the command of a young general and if so, this blog might come back to life.

In the meantime, any of you who fancy following me on my new adventures into dungeon delving can follow my new blog on HeroQuest here ....

So gents, thanks for all your support, your inspiration, the laughs and so much more.

See you on the flip side.

Mel aka Col Corbane

All the best Col. Hope you rediscover a love for it, even if its just one model at a time that inspires you to pick up some glue and paintbrushes - youve helped to inspire the rest of us to crack on with our hobbying! So I do hope that something peaks your interest again, keep checking FW and Im sure there'll be the odd model that gets you going!

i tip my hat to you sir as ride off into the night. You inspired me to start blogging three years ago when I left the 40k radio forum with a bitter taste in my mouth. Blogging reinvigorate my hobby back then and on several other occasions. Perhaps one day our paths will meet again. Till then all the best.

This blog was one of the first really army-themed blogs I came across, and it always impressed me. For whatever it is worth, I understand the reasons you're taking a step back. It's your hobby and it is supposed to be fun. I'll be following you on the new blog.

Mel,

You've been an inspiration. In fact, more than that you've been MY inspiration. Whatever you do in the future Mel, very best of luck.

Good luck, Mel. The game will still be here if you ever decide to come back. It'll be a lesser thing without you.

Not surprised really, your reasons are sound. When you get the itch again, come check out the wonderful, inexpensive world of 15mm Sci-Fi. You might find something there you have been missing.

From one Colonel to another, peace.

Resources are becoming scarce in my area too. Especially time. I've enjoyed your blog a lot. I wish you luck in your new endeavors!

Hiya Guys,

Well, what can I say, you guys are great. I was packing up my various 40k stuff up today and whilst clearing off my painting station ready for my heroquest models, I found myself not wanting to put Harkers squad away, so who knows, I'm making no promises, but you might get to see them finished after all.

All the best guys
Mel

I'm in the same 'out of love' position. It's weird when it catches you, I've got four armies, a huge Infinity force and nothing to do with any of them... At the moment.

Things will change in the future, but for now I'm kicking back and taking it easy.

I won't lie, I'll be secretly hoping that you'll re-discover some love for the hobby and that this blog will continue even if at a much lesser level. Best of luck in your new endeavours in HeroQuest (I remember if fondly from my younger days), I'll see you over on the new blog.

Thanks for all your support guys, with a bit of hindsight, I've decided to change my blog into a blog about me and my lad and our adventures in gaming.

Looks like I couldn't stay away after all lol

That's fantastic news! Make it your blog about whatever you want, you shouldn't have to feel pressured into anything, we all do this for the love of the hobby in the end.

Look forward to hearing more. Cheers
