Learning the game

Hi it's Corben again.

We've been away on holiday in North Wales. We visited Harlch castle.

My dad has been teaching me 40k. I've learned moving and shooting so far.

I like playing 40k with my dad.

Cpl Corben

(Not much done on the hobby front with us having a long camping holiday but I picked up the new rulebook and we've been slowly learning the rules together. So far I've taught little man the basics of moving, running and moving difficult terrain along with a little introduction to shooting. He's definitely hooked although I'm quite worried as he's a natural 6 fairy. Little man setup the table above using the old childrens saying of 'more is more!'.)

Very cool! Remember the most important thing is not the rules, or who wins or loses, but to have fun playing the game!

I'm a big "more terrain is better" guy myself. :)

Keep up the great work!

I'm taking notes here for when my Dark Vengeance box arrives and I can start to teach my own 7-year-old son. :)

Fantastic post, Mel. Great to see the young lad following in his Dad's footsteps. Great stuff.

Glad you guys enjoyed yourselves. And Cpl Corben, please tell your dad that he missed this surprisingly similar post of mine...and I think you'll both enjoy it: http://admiraldrax.blogspot.co.uk/2012/02/298-for-long-time-readers-drax-family.html#comment-form

Sounds like you are having a great time. Harlech castle is one of my favourite castles, I always pop in when I'm in Wales.

I loved Harlech castle so much I wrote my dissertation on it. Looks like you had fun.

A dissertation on Harlech Castle? Hell, I'd read that at the drop of a Welsh Cake!

What was your focus?

It looked at the impact of medieval castle building in Wales during the reign of Edward I, with a primary focus on Harlech.

I can probably send you a copy if I can find it on my old PC... that is if you fancy reading 12,000 words on it :D
