Just a quick one today as I've spent most of the afternoon on the phone doing work stuff and I really need to do something 40kish to take my mind off legal stuff.
So, I'd like to give you a recommendation, go checkout My Battalion, it's an brand new social networking site for gamers and although it's in it's early stages, I can see great things for it in the future.
If you do decide to get involved, then make sure you send me a friend invite, I'm down as ColCorbane on there and also, any Brits joining, make sure you join the Brit Battalion group.
Right, I'm refreshed, right, back to the boring stuff. W40k is really good for the soul, if not the pocket! - lol

Tank Paintball
I was going through my pictures folder and came across a few pics from last year that were taken at a tank paintballing session. In the summer, it's something that we, and by we, I mean a whole group of friends, love doing.
Basically, it's you and your mates in your tank verses your other mates in the other tank, and it's a cracking way to spend an afternoon. The tanks themselves are 432's with modified fox turrets on them. You'll notice in one of the pics, the large gas cylinder mounted on the back of the turret. This holds the compressed air used to fire the 40mm paintball cannon.
Here's a couple of pics, sorry there's none of the actual battle, but everything's locked down during the actual battle for safety reasons. Anyway, here's the pics :-
So, if you're anywhere near Leicester, checkout Tank Paintballing at Chaos Paintball. It really is as much fun as it looks.

IG codex arrived
Well, it turned up in a brown package yesterday morning, my wife looked at me with a smiling face, "well it's either your new warhammer book or it's porn", she knows me well.
I've already had a good chew through, although it's going to take a couple of weeks to get my head around the whole thing. But I'll start with something interesting I spotted. The vanquisher, I though was a great option at only 5pts more than a russ but looking closer I noticed that it's not ordinance or even a blast weapon, it's just a heavy.
Damn I thought, but then I thought some more and after much brain pain I realised that if it's not ordinance, then it can be fired along other weapons, like the nose lascanon. All of a sudden, this gets interesting. Another little nugget is the camo netting, yes it'll give you a 4+ cover save in the open but it'll cost you 20 points whereas the Tau disruption pods which do the same only cost 5pts. Bad form GW.
The new orders system look funky but that's going to take a while to get my head around. You can't give orders to vehicles and there's some special results depending on what you roll for your leadership. There's also lots of special characters who come with their own orders. It looks like you can just add them to units as and when you need them without taking up force organisation slots.
Anyway, enough for now, more laters peeps.

2nd Platoon continued
Well, it's been an interesting couple of weeks. My desire to get stuck in with my mini's has been set back on numerous occasions with real life getting in the way. Things seem to have calmed down now, so it's back on with the modelling.
I was lucky enough to have a sneak peek at the new codex at my local GW. I didn't have that much time with it as I had wifey and kids in tow but I managed to confirm a few of the rumours. Overall, I'm quite pleased with the new dex, but time will tell. One thing I noticed is that infantry platoons can take conscripts, well, the Corbanian 1st is a professional army, so we'll be having none of that.
Anyway, back on track, here's my latest additions to 2nd platoon. First off, there's the heavy bolter squad bringing my heavy squads upto 3.
Next there's the two special weapon squads. One with grenade launchers and the other with flamers.
The flash didn't work on the second pic and it's come out quite well. That's what my troops actually look like to the naked eye. I think I'm going to have to invest some time into learning how to take decent pics, as they never seem to do my models justice.
I've got another 4 infantry squads and another 2 heavy weapon squads to do to finish off the platoon but I'm getting a little bored of infantry, so I'm going to have a break and paint something a bit bigger. I'm also going to dig out the video camera and get stuck into my trenches again.
So many projects, so little time .................

I am not dead .......
The world is conspiring against me. The weekend before last, I contracted a nasty man flu whilst helping my brother to move house. This left me wrecked, both from the heavy moving and the flu aches. I battled on and even managed a game against Draz at the club on Friday. My wife went away for the weekend on a girls outing and left me at home with the kids. Two hours before wifey came home, a coughing fit through my back out leaving me crippled.
I'm slowly recovering, and normal posting will resume shortly.

Painting Points - Well, almost ;-)
Like quite a few, I've been taken with Lone Pirgrim's painting points system, although I've decided to do it a bit differently. You see, I know I'm a slow painter and to be honest, I'm not really bothered with comparing how quickly I paint to how quickly some one else does.
So, I had a chat with wifey, who's always going on about me getting more mini's and we've come to a deal. She doesn't mind me getting more models as long as I don't end up with more than I've got now. So, I've counted up the models I've got waiting to paint, this is what I've got waiting :-
4 Leman Russes
1 Hellhammer
3 Chimera's
1 Centaur
2 Sentinels
1 Vulture Gunship
So, usings the paints points system, I've got 130 points worth of vehicles waiting to be painted. Ok, now the troops :-
14 Cadian Officers
20 Cadian Specials (metals)
6 Cadian Heavy Weapon Squads (3pts each)
20 Storm Troopers
125 Cadian Guardsmen
10 Catachen Officers
27 Catachen Specials
7 Catachen Heavy Weapons Squads (3 pts each)
35 Catachen Guardsmen
2 Air defence Platforms (2 pts each)
Giving me a total of 274 painting points worth of models waiting. The grand total is 404 pts, so as long as this number gets lower by the new year, I'm ok getting the new shinny stuff in May!
Right, better get painting.
