My list for BlogWars

So, the deadline passed eleven hours ago and I've spent the morning wondering if the list I'd submitted was the right one. With this being my first tournament, I wasn't sure whether to go with a competitive list or with a more hobby one. I even asked Jay from the Gamers Lounge his thoughts. In the end I decided to pic my favourite models and then try to convert them into some soft of competitive force ...... I think I failed .........

So, there you have it, how I'll do, well who knows but at least I get to show off my toys. I'm planning on going just to have a laugh, so I'm not really worried where I'll place, although I don't really want to come last.

I must admit, I've had a few reservations about going, firstly, my mate Mike has had to drop out which means I'm heading out alone. Also, I'm not completely up to speed with the rules, it's been ages since I've played, so I sincerely apologise to the other players in advance.

Finally, I think I might have some problems modelling wise, my heavy weapons teams are on separate bases rather than large ones and my character are all on 60mm bases. I'm not sure if that's modelling for advantage but we'll have to see how the other players take it.

Anyway, excuses aside, this is my first tournament and I'm going for a laugh, so I'm just going to have to see what happens, now, it's time to get Harkers squad finished.

You and me both. :)

as far as "list crit" goes there only two things that would strike me as possibly "uncompetitive" from my limited understanding of the term.

You've only got two troops, which could cause issues in objective games, and secondly, the russes have sponsons, I always feels that's a bit of a point sink, as most often there's at least one sponson that can't fire.

it does give you survivability tho with those weapon destroyed results, so swings and roundabouts.

I'm taking mechvets myself and have tended to go for quantity over quality, as ive played the mechvet list for a wule now and usually overspend horribly on all the lovely toys :)

that said, three russes at 1750 isnt to be taken lightly and a lot of lists wont have the nuts to deal with that alone.

I look forward to seeing you there, all I need now is some kind of buttonhole, or branded hoodie so people know who I am.

oh, wait, that's what the army is for :)

very characterful list. completely uncompetative, but you know, i am not sure that matters in the least. besides, those squads all pack some pretty nsaty surprises and 3 russes are a bitch to get rid of so i suspect i might have to eat those words.

as for modelling, i really dont think you have to worry. no-one is going to care about weapons teams and we can always pretend the characters are on smaller bases if it is ever an issue, which i doubt.

i'm look forward to seeing another nice guard army whatever else happens!

Cool list - like Andy says not that competitive - but who cares! That army will look damn cool on the table!

Really looking forward to seeing you all down (up!) there.

And pfft at all you people bringing transports. Real men walk to objectives!

Blog Wars comes off as a fun get together not a tournament in any shape or form. Reason being is the weird additional rule of having a special/unique character as a must. This gives the impression that a story is more important than competition. Nothing wrong with that and with that being the case just go down and roll some dice.

Good luck

I think everyone is in the spirit of it.

I have my Deathwing along for their "last ride" so bit of sentimental value for me lol. Should be a giggle to see what people do come up with hehe.

Back to painting up my last unit!

That's alright I'm just going for a laugh as well. My army's probably even less competitive then yours (and everyone else's for that matter) but that doesn't bother me. Just looking forward to a few games.

I have a LOT of old guardsmen with heavy weapons on single bases, but I do have a plan. I picked up a bag of the larger bases, and I plan to mould them into scenic bases that will fit two normal size bases into them (probably build them up with filler or something) Then I can place two models on the correct sized base, with one normal guardsman as a wound marker effectively...

As for blog wars, I'll be very easy to spot. If the mass of ginger hair doesn't let everyone know that that's Ginge from Needmoretanks then the fact that I'm bringing an Ork army will make me easy to spot :oP

my weapons teams are all on single bases which are magnetised onto larger bases. when one loses wound, i just remove the loader.

Its my first tournament as well - and I'm not a regular player, so I wouldn't worry too much.

The list looks fun - from my test game I already know I cant take out 3 Leman Russ'.

With that few troops, I think you will have trouble scoring objectives - but then you can play objective denial with that many big tanks.

I'm going there for the fun of it too and it'll be my first ever tournament.

As with most of the comments, I'd have no problem playing you with the weapons teams and characters, I can't see that it'd matter that much anyway.

Look forward to seeing you there
