Modular Trenches - Earthworks

My new hotwire cutter turned up today and what a shiny new toy it is! It's mains powered unlike the GW one, so no more dead batteries or wires that arn't hot enough. So, with my new cutter in one hand and a camera in the other (not literally!), I cracked on with trench system.

I only managed to calve one trench piece as filming took quite a while, but overall I'm pretty happy with it. Here are the pics :

I'm going to work on the rest of the pieces over the weekend as I've got a couple of busy days ahead of me.

somebody told me that alternative metod is connecting foam to electicity :D But i guess hot wire is better idea :P

Yes, much better. connecting your foam to the electric will probably result in your house been burned down - lol

Looking good so far. Thanks for the update.

I'm still using the battery powered cutter. Am looking for something with longer power life and wider cut, but not ready to risk a home built version. What brand/model did you get?

Mains powered ones are much better than the battery ones. I use one from woodland scenics, it's excellent.

This is where I got it from :-

Hope that helps

Sweet - I like the look of these a great deal.

In fact, I'm jealous.

Knowing the work that went into these so far... very impressive.

I think you've got a great piece of terrain here. And with them being interchangeable, they're even more functional.

Nice job on the slope. Is that one pass with the cutter or multiple? Did you sand them down afterwards or not yet?

Drax - if you like it now, you wait till you see what else I'll be adding to it.

Ron - Cheers mate, it's multiple passes with the cutter, each sort of shaving off a ridge. It hasn't been sanded yet, that's next.

I'll probably get the other boards sorted by sunday night and hopefully film the last bits of the earthworks tutorial.
